A Small Change At The Python Coding Stack
Seven months of The Stack. One month to the launch of The Place. Here's the plan.
The Python Coding Stack is over seven months old with 42 articles published in this period. The model I’ve used so far is to publish most articles on the free tier and a few for paid subscribers only. As there is now a significant back catalogue of articles, and ahead of the official launch of The Python Coding Place, I’m making a few changes:
All articles will be free and available in full when published. The articles will remain free for the first three months from their publication date.
Articles more than three months old will be paywalled and available to paid subscribers of this substack and to members of The Python Coding Place.
Some articles will remain free forever. These include some of the key series of articles I publish, such as all those in the Selected Series section. These currently include A Magical Tour Through Object-Oriented Programming in Python • Hogwarts School of Codecraft and Algorithmancy, The Main Data Structure Categories in Python, Monty and The White Room Analogy, and The Turtle Archives.
Two Ways of Accessing the Archive
There are now two ways of becoming a “paid subscriber” and access the archived articles on this substack:
You can upgrade your free subscription to a paid one here on Substack using either the monthly or annual subscription options.
You can become a lifetime member of The Python Coding Place. This gives you access to all my resources, which includes full access to this Substack. There’s more about what else is included in the membership below.
Current Paid Subscribers of The Python Coding Stack
Those of you who are already paid subscribers of this substack and who would like to move to membership of The Python Coding Place can use any payments already made via Substack as credit towards joining The Python Coding Place. So, if you’ve got a paid subscription on this substack and you would like to become a member of The Place, email me so I can apply the credit towards your membership.
The Python Coding Place • Launching 15 January
Everything is falling nicely in place. I started writing publicly several years ago with my first articles on the Real Python site. Then I published The Python Coding Book, and earlier this year I started this substack, The Python Coding Stack.
And over the past few months, I’ve been gradually rolling out The Python Coding Place, which is the hub to connect all the resources I’m creating. The website and pre-launch bookings went live just over a month ago and there are already over 30 members who have secured their lifetime membership in the past month.
The Place will include a significant and growing library of video courses at beginner and intermediate levels, weekly short videos about varied Python topics, live workshops and discussions, including ones delivered by guest speakers, a members’ forum, and cohort courses at beginner and intermediate levels.
All of this is included in a single tier, lifetime membership. A one-time fee that gives you access to everything, forever.
