I thought the recipe analogy was excellent. Very good way to explain it.

The white room analogy seems to need the concept of mutable vs immutable. Maybe the actual objects go in boxes labeled with "addresses" and the rooms use boxes with variable labels and pieces of paper with an address inside? Some of the object boxes are locked and can't be changed... 🤷🏼‍♂️ What's your solution?

Thanks! My informal solution is indeed to store pieces of paper in the boxes that refer to aisle and shelf numbers in a store room! So we're on the same lines!

But I don't usually add this when writing about the analogy since with every analogy, you need to stop somewhere!

I like the storeroom idea. If some storage bins are locked, you have immutable data.

Yeah, that’s always the thing about analogies for those without a lot of background. Where do you go on the simple-complex axis?
